The binding is tight, the pages are moderately toned with age; there is pencil marginalia and underlining on pgs 25-64, and two tiny holes from false title page through page 16; a previous owner's name is written in pen on front free endpaper.

This reference source focuses primarily on contemporary woman artists. Entries are limited to from 5 to 20 words per artist, they may include artist's medium, where she studied or exhibited, birth and death dates. There are many B&W reproductions of artworks including those of sculptures and photographs. Pages are not numbered, text is alphabetical with no additional index. The author omits citations to some well known artists and art dealer's information is not provided. 1975 was International Women's Year. The red, white and blue waving banner on the book jacket is just in time for the 1976 USA Bicentennial.

Description:
This perfect bound soft-cover book is in its stiff white wrappers which show wear and are slightly soiled. The binding is tight and the text block has a dime sized wet stain top near spine, larger wet stain bottom near spine; the pages are clear of marks. Includes 25 B&W full page plates with title, date, size printed on rectos throughout, a preface by gallery director Faustino Quintanilla, an Introduction, a Biography, and a simple "How To Make a Woodcut" instruction page.
The artist was a master printmaker, it was his prime artistic expression since 1973; in this quite scarce exhibition catalog one sees woodcuts with much attention to foliage. He was a Professor Emeritus of Art and Design at the College, one of the founders of the Queensborough Art Gallery, and one of the designers of the A.S. Degree in Visual and Performing Arts.
