Includes three Merril lpoems "The Summer Park", "The Wintry Garden" and "Beginner's Greek" plus an essay "The Transformation of Rilke" Merrill's first book, "Jim's Book - A Collection of Poems and Short Stories" was published privately when he was 15 years old. The poems in this Yale review published spring 1946 are among his first published "adult" works and predate both the scarce book of poems, "The Black Swan" printed privately in Athens later in the fall of 1946, and "First Poems", his first poetry collection published commercially by Knopf in 1951.
