Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece by Paul Hogarth. Between pages 290 and 291 there are eight pages of coloured reproductions of Paul Hogarth's work . Throughout the text there are black-and-white photographs. Chocolate brown coloured boards with silver coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with apricot and white coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour photograph of author to the rear fold over panel. In 1954 Chou En-lai invited British politicians and scientists to visit the new China. Included were a Labour leader, a former Prime Minister, philosopher, poet and novelist and artist Paul Hogarth. The book is part travelogue, part political history and part social comedy, as it traces the party on its elongated journeys across the USSR, Mongolia and China.
