About This Item
New York: St. Martin's Press, 2009. Hardcover, black boards. Fine/Dust Jacket condition very good. Story of Fred Astaire, 1899-1987, the most influential dancer in the history of film, and how he became America's 'most elegant song & dance man.' Association copy, SIGNED and INSCRIBED on the 1/2 title by the wife of the author, Grace Diekhaus Levinson. Diekhaus was a successful television producer, particularly known for her work on CBS's 60 Minutes. Tucked in is a TLS from Roger F. Vorce on his personal letterhead, addressed to the same couple as Diekhaus' inscription, dated 2009. Vorce was the co-founder of the Agency for the Performing Arts and died in 2018. He was a friend and colleague of the Levinsons at the Music Corporation of America from the 1960s onward. Author Peter Levinson, 1934-2008, was a publicist and biographer, particularly of jazz musicians. 477 pages, index. Interesting and unusual piece of entertainment memorabilia. Excellent gift idea for a Hollywood aficionado, Fred Astaire fan, or dancer.
