About This Item

London: Harper Collins, 2001. First edition, 2001. Hardback. 232pp. Dust jacket in a protective sleeve. For centuries, Loch Lomondside has been celebrated for its outstanding scenery and historical associations and has attracted the attention of many great writers, among them Samuel Johnson, William Wordsworth and Sir Walter Scott. The area's rich tapestry of locj, mountain and forest is equally renowned for its wealth of wildlife, unrivalled in its diversity anywhere in central Scotland. With over 70% of the population of Scotland living within an hour's travelling time of the area, Loch Lomond is understandably one of the most popular recreation destinations in the country. This book describes the topography and economic development of Loch Lomondside, including forestry, agriculture, water storage and supply, but above all, its natural history and the long struggle for the conservation of the area's wild places. 8 colour plates and over 120 black & white photographs and line drawings. Jacket design by Robert Gillmor. Book near fine and unread. A hint of spotting isolated to the half title page. Very small spot of adhesive (presumably from production process) to foot of pages 230/231 causing adhesion which has resulted in slight surface abrasion to a very small area when the pages were separated. Otherwise a fine copy. Dust jacket fine. Unclipped. No discernible sun-fade to spine.
