About This Item

New York: Encounter Books, 2012. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover first edition in grey papered boards, quarter bound in beige cloth, with gilt titling at the spine and a gilt "RZ" decoration to the front. Includes b&w illustrations, Notes, and an Index. There is a manufacturing flaw where some excess material on the back of the spine cover has created a lump in the midst of the word "Despair" in the titling. The mechanics of the book are not effected. The previous owner left some penciled markings in the text and margins of about a dozen pages. Despite these flaws we grade the book as Very Good or better as it is square and tight with sharp edges and corners. The dust jacket has a little fading at the spine, but is only very slightly worn otherwise.

About Pulp & Circumstance

Welcome to Pulp & Circumstance on Biblio. Once a brick and mortar bookseller, I am pleased that I can now offer scarce and/or collectible books and other items via this platform.

P&C strives to ensure that all items are clean and fairly described. Packages will be wrapped with care and dispatched as soon as feasible, usually on the next business day.

We do not use stock photos. All our photos are of the actual item offered for sale. We try to include the publishers' own descriptions of content by including photos of dust jacket flaps and back covers so far as they seem useful, and we also use photos to show material flaws where we can.

The "Pulp & Circumstance" watermark you might notice in some of our photos does not, of course, appear on any of the items themselves.

Please note that the colour in our photos often fails to come out right. The hue shifts a bit due to the limitations of our equipment, the lighting in our workshop, and of course my own lack of photographic expertise.

Shipping costs per book are always cheaper when more than one book is sent in the same package. Read more about shipping charges in "Terms of Sale" below.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have by email. We will usually respond within 24 hours. Happy browsing!
