About This Item

Baton Rouge/London: Louisiana State University Press, 1978. Scholarly study of the Federalist party in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, & Georgia, its politics, history, development, opinions, and fate of its politicians & followers after its disappearance: unified only (in those states) by their distrust of Napoleon's France, the party effectively vanished after his final defeat in 1815, though their influence in the opinions of Supreme Court John Marshall lasted another 20 years. Hardcover in jacket, as pictured; SIGNED by the author on the free endsheet. Broussard, a professor at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania, wrote another book, on Reagan, but is most remembered as the founder of SHEAR, the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic. Light wear to book & jacket, hint of fading to spine, couple of faint spots inside front cover, corners lightly bumped. Text clean; no names or marks (apart from the author's); xiii, blank, 438 pages; index, bibliography, a few maps, tables. . Signed by Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Large Octavo.
