About This Item

E-115: Catalan Communications. Very Good. 1986. Hardcover. Hardcover. 4to. Published by Catalan Communications, New York. 1986. Signed by Richard Corben on the title page. 52 pgs. #276 of a limited edition of 300 copies. Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. The necromancer Hunghoul has flown off with Pilgor the Barbarian's faithless wife Smegmella, so the obliviously cuckolded hero must hunt them down through the skies. The plot weaves together images from Corben's 1979 portfolio "Scenes from the Magic Planet" as set pieces within an amiably rambling quest adventure that's basically an heroic-fantasy farce. There is an important note though, Bodyssey is less about the physical heroics of characters like Den, as it is about a land where most things are of a sexual nature. Even the monsters, are pulsing organs like creatures , etc, There is a base of interesting characters, but if you are at all put off by sexual innuendo or similar subject matter this might be one you'd pass on. But what you'd miss in doing so, For any artist it is eye candy from the beginning to the end . A clear road-mark in his career that shows the evolution of so many techniques and refinements to his style. Just as some of the early underground and Creepy-magazine stuff was rough, Bodyssey, is the other end of his creative spectrum. EB; 8.4 X 5.9 X 0.7 inches; 52 pages; Signed by Author .
