About This Item
London, England: British Museum Press, 2009. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. First published in Great Britain in 2009. This is the first paperback edition. Printed and presumed bound in Italy. Full-pictorial heavy-duty paper binding, with crisp lettering to the front board and spine. An exceptionally clean binding. Unbumped spine head and tail, and sharp corners. Text block firmly bound in. 11.5 x 9 inches. 274 numbered pages. With 240 illustrations, almost all in full color. Very clean and tight interior. Almost certainly unread. A Fine copy. 3 lbs. 3 oz. The title is a bit of a misnomer; Persia was not known as Iran until 1935. Iran is indeed the name of the country in Persian; "Iran" is a cognate of "Aryan" and derived from it. Shah 'Abbas I was one of Persia's most influential leaders. He left a far-reaching mark on the society and artistic heritage of Persia.

About Marc Sena Carrel
I deal principally in rare and fine books. I also sell antique prints, including Japanese ukiyo-e. I have eclectic and wide-ranging interests and my collection generally emphasizes art titles. Areas of book specialization include: Art, Architecture, Design, Antiques, Antiquities, Small Press/Fine Press. As for prints, I am chiefly interested in ukiyo-e, ornithologicals, iconography and churches. I have a small but choice selection of books and prints available for the discriminating collector/buyer. My goal is to establish and maintain a stock in trade of a few thousand fine books and a few hundred noteworthy prints.
