The discovery of precious metals in the surrounding mountains brought people and prosperity to the isolated town. With dozens of photos, mostly in black & white but some in color, showing people and scenes described in the book. Includes numerous maps and drawings. Also with images of receipts, ledgers, tickets, menus and all sorts other railroad ephemera. A 46 cm wide x 63 cm tall folded Silverton Area Contour Map, with a map of the town of Silverton on reverse, is housed in a special back pocket. --- In pictorial covers with color painting of a steam locomotive underway in a mountain valley with a rainbow in the distance. The covers with a lustrous gold paper backing. Volume wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper. --- A well-preserved, bright copy lacking interior markings but with a couple of stickers taped to front cover.
