(1st) Large book, maroon cloth, gilt author's name bright at top front, spine slightly sunken, gilt bright on spine, ink name at top of first front end paper, 328 heavy pages, 10-page index. Gardner was an accomplished scholar of medieval literature. DJ heavy paper, with look of vellum illuminated manuscript in color on front, spine and back. DJ has 3/8" tear at top front tip, very tiny tear and light wear with creases to top front edge, microtear with tiny crease at bottom front tip. Near Very Good DJ/Very Good book.
