The book was originally published in Italian in 1978. This English edition was translation by T.Y. Atworth. The center of the shroud is Maria Valtorta who, over the course of some 8 years, recorded her visions. The premise of this book is based on the acceptance of the veracity of the shroud. It was not intended to convince the skeptical reader. Instead, the author compares some scholarly investigations to the vision as recorded by Valtorta. There are some 60 illustrations throughout, by way of photographs and drawings. A near fine, to fine, copy in unread condition. There are no extraneous notes or markings in the text.
