The text is illustrated with the occasional black-and-white photograph. 1/4 black coloured cloth covered backstrip with silver coloured titles. 3/4 silver coloured boards. Photographic dustwrapper with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. black and white photograph of author to the rear fold over panel. A history of weapons in Western civilisation. As the front fold over panel blurb states , there is often a "... complex and often paradoxical relationship between men and arms." Minor rubbing to the backstrip edges and to the book corners and lower book edges. Age toning of the textblock edges. The book has been over opens between pages 120 through to 148, consequently, that section of the text is not flush with the rest.
