About This Item

Carlisle, PA: Strategic Studies Institute U. S. Army War College, 2003. Presumed first edition/first printing. Wraps. Very good. No dust jacket. Cover has slight wear and soiling.. v, [1], 75, [3] p. Illustration. Endnotes. From an on-line posting: "The author uses a detailed assessment of the Russian experience in Afghanistan and Chechnya to draw important conclusions about asymmetric warfare. Even in this era of asymmetry, the U.S. Army exhibits a cultural preference for the "big war" paradigm. He suggests that the U.S. military in general, including the Army, needs a cultural transformation to master the challenge of asymmetry fully. ROBERT M. CASSIDY, a major in the U.S. Army, is the S3 of the 4th Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized). He has served as a heavy division cavalry executive officer, an assistant professor of international relations at West Point and as a cavalry troop commander in the 82nd Airborne Division. Major Cassidy is a graduate of the French Joint Defense College and has a Ph.D. in International Security from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. The above information was current when the work was published by SSI."
