New York, New York, U.S.A: D. Appleton and Company, 1856. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. 4-1/2 x 7 in. POOR / NO DUST JACKET. 208 pages plus publisher's catalog. Text lightly soiled throughout, previous owner's identification at front and at rear pastedown, front flyleaf removed, free front endpaper partly detached. Engraved frontispiece illustration. Blue-green cloth boards with blindstamped decoration at front and back, gilt decoration and lettering at spine. Boards faded, edges rubbed, corners bumped and worn to boards, spine top and tail frayed and chipped, spine cloth split 3" at top back of spine. Hinges good, textblock completely intact, but tender, binding overall stable.
