Author Bronowski is noted for a humanistic approach to science, and his 1973 BBC TV documentary & its accompanying book, The Ascent of Man. Poet Blake, himself a committed Christian, was hostile to the Church of England and, indeed, many forms of organized religion, and influenced by the ideals & ambitions of the French and American revolutions. Bronowski's first book on Blake, A Man Without a Mask was published in 1944, and followed by a famous anthology Blake's poems & letters in 1958. This volume is the 1965 revised edition of A Man Without a Mask, is virtually a new book. 207 pgs, 16 plates, in 5 parts. Following Introduction: I, The Prophetic Mask; II, The Seditious Writings; III, The Satanic Wheels; IV, Innocence & Experience; and V, The Man Without a Mask.
