Engraved frontispiece, title page vignette, 24 other b&w plates. Green leather hardcover. All edges gilt. Respined with original spine laid on. Hinges repaired internally. Ink inscription (Richard Cotton) on front free endpaper. Title page tissue guard coming loose. Occasional dampstains.
The English author and translator Thomas Roscoe (1791-1871) partnered with artist James Duffield Harding (1798-1863) to produce this guide to Milan, Lake Maggiore, Florence, Naples, Sorrento, and much more. They also collaborated on The Tourist in France.
