About This Item

New York, New York, U.S.A.: W. W. Norton & Company, 2004. First Edition, 2nd Printing . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. Oversized hardcover( in 459 pages) containing 46 tales with annotations (explanatory notes in margins) that really bring the stories to life & increase your understanding of them! Includes beloved children's favorites, along with a good selection of tales written for adults; an essay on the origins & cultural effects of the tales; a biographical essay on the Brothers Grimm; the original prefaces to the first & second editions of the tales; a section of lovely quotes from famous writers on "The Magic of Fairy Tales;" & an Introduction by author A.S. Byatt. Translated, edited, & annotated by Maria Tatar. Beautiful woodcut & full color illustrations throughout by original illustrators Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, Walter Crane, George Cruikshank, & more. A FIRST EDITION, Second Printing from 2004, this book is beautiful, but downgraded to Near Fine because it is an Ex-Lib copy marred by the usual stamps & markings to front matter & bottom/top outside page edges. Otherwise, it appears nearly new & never read! Pages completely white & unmarked, illustrations bright & colorful, binding straight & strong. The unclipped DJ is Fine, as it has been protected under library mylar since new: colorful & bright. DJ is taped to inside covers, so we can't show you the front of the book itself under the DJ. Our photos depict the EXACT book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have. Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays, Pacific time; later orders, weekends, & holidays ship very next business day. SORRY: book is too large for expedited domestic or any international shipping without increased postage costs (at least double, per USPS).
