Illustrator: Photographic, & Illustrations. foreword by John Gorton, Prime Minister of Australia, Prologue by the publishers, acknowledgements and and index to subjects and pages. Photographic endpapers, showing an old-fashioned sailing ship upon the sea. The text is illustrated with both colour and black-and-white photographs, illustrations and maps. Blue coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured embossed illustration to the front panel and giltcoloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper, same image as for end pages, with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A romanticised view of the settlement of Australia, produced and published to celebrate Australia's Bi-Centenary. Minor rubbing of the book corners with softening of the back strip edges. Age toning of the text block edges with foxing also present. There is a distinct musty smell when the book is opened and the pages are riffled. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. There are small tears to the top corner of the front panel and top corners of the back strip. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels and there is a oblong faded spots to the right hand edge of the front panel. Faint foxing to the verso. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. [6], 7 - 613, [3] pages,.
