Octavo (20cm.); publisher's blue pictorial cloth stamped in gilt; xvi,17-442pp.; sixteen leaves of illus. printed on rectos and versos, color folding map bound in rear, dozens of engravings in text throughout. Cloth sizing rather rubbed at margins, spine panel and gilt quite dulled, some offsetting to endpapers, else Very Good, internally clean and sound overall. Biographical history of Spanish colonial Cuba, published just two years before the hostilities broke out between Spain and the United States. Chapters and biographies are divided by industry, including hospitality, journalism, law, literature, and local government.
