The history of the University of Chicago under Robert Maynard Hutchins (1899-1977) as president from 1929 to 1945 and then chancellor from 1945 to 1951. The author was an undergraduate and then instructor during these years. "His account of the university's history is laced with personal reminiscences, encounters with influential fellow scholars . . . and details drawn from Hutchins' papers and other archives." -- dust jacket. Book is in Fine Condition: clean and tight. Dust jacket is in Near Fine Condition: edges slightly rubbed; clean and bright.
