About This Item

From Introduction: "When I began to research drive-ins I had no preset ideas or preconceived notions - with the exception of the drive-in's reputation as a passion pit. ... I have tried to strike a balance in this book between the technical aspects of the drive-in - which didn't fuel its rise but did contribute to its cecline - and the sociocultural ones: that is, who the audience was, why they went, the response of the community at large to this new cultural force, what factors let do the outdoor theaters' phenomenal rise and, later, to its steady decline toward its inevitable demise, and so on."

Very Good condition. Gray cloth over boards with red gilt text on front and spine. Front cover has a "dent" in the bottom edge. Discarded library book - only one red "Withdrawn" stamp, and the library number sticker on the spine. Text is clean and binding is tight. Lots of black and white photographs.
