Preface by editors, list of abbreviations, map illustrated frontispiece – showing the Palestine area, bibliographies, index and chronological table. The text is illustrated with the occasional map and table. Dark red coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Plaintext dustwrapper with white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The first volume of a proposed four volume set dealing with the history of Judaism. Minor rubbing of the book corners and back strip corners. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down; and, previous owners name to the top left hand corner of the same page. A small amount of spotting to the top text edge. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with some creasing to the top dustwrapper edge.
