About This Item

Big Sky Publishing, Newport, New South Wales, 2010. First Edition. Softcover (Photographic). Very Good Condition. Illustrator: Photographic & Maps. Acknowledgements, foreword by author, Introduction: Honourable Scars, glossary, contributors, bibliography and index. The text is illustrated with numerous colour photographs and maps. Photographic paperback binding with red and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. In 1994 the landlocked African country of Rwanda exploded into a orgy of violence – the estimates pulled the death toll that were hacked to death around a million – men women and children. Into this cauldron a small band of Australian peacekeepers were sent to help alleviate the suffering and bring back some order into shattered lives. This peacekeeping turned even more horrifying when on 22 April 1995, and, in full view of the Australian peacekeepers, over 4000 refugees died at the hands of the Rwandan Patriotic Army. And, because of the rules of engagement that the UN had put in place the soldiers could do nothing but watch the carnage and try and help as many as possible under the gaze of trigger-happy killers. This book is the reminiscences of those peacekeepers. Rubbing of the book edges and panels with a hint of age toning of the text block edges. Remnants of a price sticker can be seen to the lower right-hand corner of the rear panel. Size: Trade Paperback. [6], VII - XIII, [1], 2 - 293, [2] pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
