London: John Murray , 1833-34. First edition. Leather. Very Good. 9" by 6.5". William Finden . Three first edition volumes of work showcasing engravings made by William Finden of subjects relating to the life and works of Lord Byron, bound in full crushed morocco. Three volume complete set. The first edition of this work in book form. In a crushed morocco binding with a blind stamped design to the boards and gilt details to the spine. All volumes are illustrated with 42 plates including the frontispiece and title page vignettes. Collated complete. This three volume collection features the artwork of the English engraver William Finden with commentary by William Brockedon, an English painter and writer. Finden, along with his brother, created this series of landscape and portrait illustrations based of the life and works on Lord Byron and was the first series the brothers created together. In a crushed morocco binding. Externally generally smart with marks to the boards, slight rubbing to the joints and light fading to the spines. Bookplate from the 'Estcourt library' to the front pastedowns with marks to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages to the extremities and the odd spot, heavier to the versos of the plates. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
