A scarce complete four volume set of this fascinating collection of illustrations displaying the baronial and ecclesiastical antiquities of Scotland. Complete in four volumes. Scarce work. Dated from the National Museums of Scotland Library. Each volume contains an engraved title page. Illustrated with a total of two-hundred and forty plates: sixty plates to each volume. Collated complete. A display of the antiquities of Scotland held by the baronage and the church, including: Aberbrothock Abbey, St. Andrew's Cathedral, Doune Castle, Falkland Palace, Glasgow Cathedral, Huntley Castle, Kelburne House, Maybole Tower, Spynie Palace, and Udny Castle. Illustrated by Robert William Billings, a British architect and author. Bound by Maclehose, Glasgow. In the original full green morocco binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Light age toning to the extremities and minor chipping to the edges of the first and last few pages. Further age toning to the endpapers of volume four. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Bound by Maclehose, Glasgow. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
