About This Item

London: Millennium An Orion Book, 1994. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. First edition first printing. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean. Bumping to spine ends, title gilt perfect. Text block clean, with a touch of toning and dustiness to top edge. The pages are unblemished. Feels gently read. Near fine condition. Jacket has some wear to the top edge, otherwise glossy and straight, overall a near fine copy. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A very nice example of this collectible first edition first printing title, by Greg Egan, his debut novel and would make a great addition to a modern SF collection. A scarce title.

Synopsis

Permutation City is a 1994 science fiction novel by Greg Egan that explores many concepts, including quantum ontology, via various philosophical aspects of artificial life and simulated reality. It won the John W. Campbell Award for the best science-fiction novel of the year in 1995 and was nominated for the Philip K. Dick Award that same year. The novel was also cited in a 2003 Scientific American article on multiverses by Max Tegmark.
