About This Item

Random House, 1955. Hardback . Excellent. 8x5x2. Douglas Gorsline. Vintage Cloth Cover Landmark Hardback Book. Book itself is in Very Good Plus to Excellent condition with a tight binding and clean crisp pages. Inside text appears to be Unread and Unused! No writings or markings in the book. But, the previous owner has trimmed the "Dear Young Readers" letter that was provided to members of the "Young Readers of America" Club. Previous Owner has trimmed and then taped the letter and signature to the first blank end page. The Synopsis of the book and the author information that was located on the front flap of the Dust Jacket has been cut out and taped to the first end page along with the "World Landmark" circular symbol with the book number "W-20" cut from the front of the Dust Jacket is glued in the upper right hand corner of the same end page. Also, there is a small tear on the last end page in the bottom left hand corner along the inside spine. This is NOT an Ex-library book, but has come from a private collection. Outside cloth covers are very nice! No Dust Jacket, but the listed cut out from the Dust Jacket are included. This is a less common title in the Landmark series. Landmark Books and World Landmark Books are accurate, in-depth stories for young people in the 9-15 year old range. These living histories were written by award-winning authors or by men and women who experienced the events first hand. Written during the 1950's and 1960's and illustrated either with two-color drawings or clear photographs, the books are informative, enjoyable, and well worth reading and collecting. Marie Antoinette was only fourteen when she became engaged to Louis, the young dauphin of France, who would one day be king. This was also a cause for joy; the two most powerful nations in the world at that time, to be united by this pretty, young, carefree princess!
