With 917 illustrations, of which 482 are in full color (many of the color plates span two pages). Includes sections on other famous painters who specialize in birds; along with samples of their work. Unpaginated (approx. 700 pgs.). The book is formatted much like Mr. Audubon's famous double elephant editions, but in modern scientific phylogenetic sequence. --- A gigantic book, weighing nearly 18 lbs. and measuring 12 in. wide x 15 in. tall. In full ivory cloth-covered boards with titling and decorations on spine in black. In dust jacket with representative paintings to front and back panels. Volume housed in deluxe slipcase with cloth at ends and repeated dust jacket art. --- An about-Near Fine copy: bright, tightly-bound and newish. Dust jacket and slipcase also in excellent condition.
