Philadelphia: Gebbie & Barrie, 1880. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Folio. vi, xvi, 136, [2]pp., illustrated with gravure plates and full page wood-engraved plates, and wood-engravings throughout the text. Contemporary half morocco and cloth boards, all edges gilt. Wear to the leather joints and corners, spine back peeling away at the top, else a very good clean copy. Beautifully printed gravure and wood-engraved plates reproducing classic European genre paintings, with descriptive text in English.
