Illustrated with tinted, hand-colored lithographic frontispiece of Mount Barkal, charts and two fold-out maps. Errata slip present. Translated from the German by Leonora and Joanna B. Horner. Dr. Lepsius was one of the principal German Egyptologists of the 19th century and this translation, the second, is the preferred edition. A very scarce title describing the work of the 1842 scientific expedition, launched by the King of Prussia, to study and investigate Egyptian monuments. An exceptionally clean copy, complete with all maps and illustrations. Fine.. First Thus. Cloth. Fine. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
