Binding remains firm. Pages are moderately tanned. More pronounced tanning and foxing to free end papers and pastedowns. Pen inscription to front pastedown. Thumb-marking throughout. Noticeable tanning to text block edges. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and noticeable rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends causing cloth to fray. Book has a slight forward lean. Boards are slightly bowed. Considerable sunning to spine and edges.

William Wordsworth was an English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication Lyrical Ballads (1798). Wordsworth's magnum opus is generally considered to be The Prelude, a semi-autobiographical poem of his early years that he revised and expanded a number of times. It was posthumously titled and published by his wife in the year of his death, before which it was generally known as "the poem to Coleridge". Wordsworth was Poet Laureate from 1843 until his death from pleurisy on 23 April 1850.

Contains Frontis with tissue guard and several other black and white illustrations. Light overall age-tanning. FFEP appears to have been crudely re-glued. All edges gilt. Paper label to spine now illegible. Bumping to spine and corners, with some fraying to base of backstrip and 1/4" loss to top. Left hinge starting to crack and ffep starting to come loose at the top. Gift inscription, scored out, to verso of ffep and former owner's name to ffep. Top edges dusty, otherwise fair/good copy..

Edinburgh: Gall & Inglis, 1111. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Not dated. Edition and printing not known. In very good brown leather boards with elaborate gilt tooling to front and rear; spine has gilt titles and five horizontal raised bands. The boards are tight, straight and clean. "The Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team" have re-glued the hinges, cleaned the leather; minimal repair made to spine. Stained yellow/brown end papers. Shiny gilt cut edges. The text block is in very good condition, tightly bound, flat; Prelims lightly tanned around the edges; page block clean. With 'eight engravings on steel', including frontispiece (with tissue guard) and on title page. No dedications etc.Without jacket.
