Forsyth has created a formidably thorough, comprehensive and informative text that has instructed and influenced generations of composers, conductors, musicians and musicologists. Bright and clean orange, green and black wrappers with slight wear to some edges, light crease down spine; tight, solid and square. There is one word written on the endpaper, otherwise page edges and pages very clean and free from any markings-no underlining, no highlighting, no marginalia. This is an unabridged republication of the second edition 1935, as published, within the series "The Musician's Library", by Macmillan and Co., Limited, London, and Stainer and Bell, Limited, London (first edition 1914 Macmillan). The Foreword to the Dover Edition was specially wrtten for the present edition by Willliam Bolcom. Addenda. Appendix. Index. xv + 530 pp. plus 12 plates.
