About This Item
This grandson of influential newspaper publisher and "New York Times" owner Adolph S. Ochs (1858-1935) was likewise publisher and chairman of the board of that renowned newspaper. Incredibly tiny business card, 2½" X 1¼" citing him as Chairman of the Board and Publisher of "The New York Times," n.p., n.y. Fine. Above his printed name Sulzberger boldly pens "with regards --" in black fineline and below his printed name signs his usual scrawled signature. Near fine. This has been neatly affixed to a First Day Cover celebrating the 1976 release of the 13-cent "Adolph S. Ochs" U.S. postage stamp, 6½" X 3 3/4", cancelled in New York, New York on 18 September 1976 and with "First Day of Issue also stamp. Single Ochs stamp at upper right and pictorial cachet with text at left, with Sulzberger's signed business card positioned above the postal cancellation and between stamp and cachet. Most unusual and attractive.
