Printed for F. Style. London.,1739. FIRST, AND ONLY, EDITION. 8vo. Front wrapper, ii,28pp. Lacking the half title but with the rare printed front wrapper (showing the price of Six Pence) laid down and bound in. Text complete. Top edge of pages have been cut and gilded, the others are untrimmed. Pages a bit marked and rubbed but overall a very good example. The original front wrapper has some small areas of loss to the edges and corners and has been professionally laid down. Bound in modern half red crushed morocco by C. Walters. Spine with raised bands, ruled in blind. Compartments lettered in gilt. Boards with dark red cloth. Burgundy endpapers. Previous owners bookplate (Douglas Peter Crossman, Earl Stonham) on front pastedown endpaper. Overall a very good copy of this uncommon political satire, mocking the supporters of George II and Prince James Stuart, the Old pretender. Not in Halkett & Laing.:

New York, N.Y. (115 W. Broadway): Artists Poster Committee, 1984. With Union burst. Poster, lithography on clay paper. [22½ x 35 inches], VG or better. Light rippling throughout. On the left, one clean tear of ~3 inches, may be mended. Some light chipping to ink at edges and similar light edge wear. "On August 11, 1984, President Ronald Reagan was preparing for his weekly radio address on National Public Radio. During a soundcheck he said, 'My fellow Americans I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that would outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.' The audio was subsequently leaked. Despite making a joke about nuclear genocide, Reagan was reelected by a landslide a few months later."—Exhibition Annotation: Center for the Study of Political Graphics. Worldcat.org finds one copy at the University of Michigan and one at MoMA and none in trade. All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. They will be shipped rolled, in tubes.

Description:
Paris: Imprimerie S. A. Courbet, 1980. Poster featuring the famous 'Normandie' liner. This appears to be a 1980's re-issue of the print. This was produced (originally circa 1950) in response to the advancing popularity of airlines for transcontinental travel. The image of the ship emphasizes stability, safety, comfort, style and luxury. A beautiful ocean liner as indicated by the enormous proportions of the ship. Featuring the French national colours, and the liner's huge, imposing bow dominates this striking image. 1000 x 610 mm (39¼ x 24 inches). The poster is signed in the plate on the lower right. Paul Colin (1892 - 1985) was one of France's greatest poster artists. Famous for his 1925 poster for the Revue Nègre, which helped launch the career of Josephine Baker (who also became his mistress). Colin is considered a master of modern school or poster art, and created more than 1400 posters, many theatrical sets and also costume designs. Affiche représentant le célèbre paquebot 'Normandie'.…
