About This Item

N.p.: N.p., 1936. Typescript draft for the 1936 film. Copy belonging to director Arcady Boytler, with a notation to the first page in manuscript ink: "Original de Arcady Boytler / Registrado conforme / La ley XII #1312 28 Sep. 1934," certifying the screenplay as original and registered according to law. The last page bears a similar annotation, also noting the location as "Mexico D.F." (Mexico City, Mexico). Missing seven pages, likely as used or issued.

Included with the script is an autograph note signed "Mr. Kohner / B. / You asked to have this returned to you / HOLD / O.S." on the recto, and a typed note reading "Miss Savage / Pls. read / PK" on the verso.

A doctor saves the life of a jilted woman who has attempted suicide. The two fall in love, but the doctor's preoccupation with the woman's fidelity drives him into a full-blown jealous psychosis that proves to be his downfall. The cinematic debut of actor Arturo de Cordova. Starring noted Mexican actor-directors Fernando Soler and Emilio "El Indio" Fernandez, both considered prominent figures in the golden age of Mexican cinema.

Tall tan untitled wrappers. Lacking a title page. 62 leaves, with last page of text numbered 68. Typescript, rectos only. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good plus, side stapled.
