Noted as copy No. 5 in holograph ink annotation on the front wrapper and title page, with holograph pencil and ink annotations throughout the script. Accompanying the script are a few autograph notes signed and autograph letters signed relating to the possible casting of noted actress Marian Seldes in the play-though it would appear she starred in a 2004 production.

A flamboyant tour guide at a historic house in the English countryside goes to war against an uptight member of the house's Historical Trust. Playwright Peter Shaffer's first comedic work in 20 years, written for actress Maggie Smith, who was replaced by Geraldine McEwan in the play's US tour.

The play made its London debut at the Globe Theatre on October 6, 1987, where it ran for 768 performances. Its New York incarnation was similarly successful, running for 286 performances before closing on December 23, 1990. Nominated for four Tony Awards, winning two for Best Actress and Best Featured Actress for Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack, respectively.
