About This Item

Tight, square, uncreased spine. Clean, unmarked interior. A few turned corners and some edge-wear, but only light wear overall. Design by Dennis J. Grastorf. Cover design by Philip Pascuzzo. The title page credits Kiyoshi Kuromiya as 'adjuvant', and indeed the renowned activist went on to tour with Fuller post-publication. Kuromiya, born in Wyoming in a World War II–era internment camp, has a biography that spans twentieth-century political movements to an almost superhuman extent: he was an aide to and close friend of Martin Luther King Jr., cofounder of Gay Liberation Front Philadelphia, and the instigator of the largest antiwar demonstration in the history of the University of Pennsylvania. Kuromiya drew thousands to the protest when he printed up flyers, credited to a fictional group called the Americong, claiming a dog would be publicly burned in front of the Van Pelt Library in protest of the American use of napalm in Vietnam; on the day of the rally, outraged attendants were given another flyer reading, 'Congratulations, you've saved the life of an innocent dog. How about the hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese that have been burned alive?' 471 pp.
