'Joseph Andrews' is the story of a good-natured footman and his adventures on his way home from London with his friend and mentor, the parson Abraham Adams, an absent minded man.This novel is among the first in the English language, and is often defined as a comic epic poem in prose.Written by Henry Fielding, the English novelist, well known for his humorous and satirical work. He was also one of those who founded London's first police force, the Bow Street Runners.Illustrated by the renowned caricaturist Thomas Rowlandson. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, rubbed, resulting in a little loss of paper. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Small cracks to the head and tail of the joints. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with some spots and handling marks. Frontispiece is lifting a little to the tail. Plates are a little age-toning with marks and spots. Plate facing page 219 is torn. Good
