The jackets show moderate rubbing and wear with some scuffs and brief edge tears and chips. Jackets are sound and complete. A sound set with secure inner hinges and clean text. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. There is damping in the gutter at the front near the top and the bottom. This is heavy at the very front and fades through the Introduction. There is also a little damping at the top edge of the rear endpapers which does not affect the text. A sound copy. There is a two-page Index at the rear.

Hardcovers bound in dark green half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The bindings show some wear but are quite sound with sturdy hinges. The rear hinge on Volume 1 is scuffed with the untreated leather exposed. There is a white scuff mark on the front cover of Volume 1 at the bottom left corner. Bindings tight. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned and has some occasional foxing, but overall the text appears clean. Half title to Volume 1 appears to be a little loose. SIGNED Bechet (one of the publishers) on the verso of the title page to authenticate this edition as not being a pirated edition. Text is in French. A translation of the title into English is, "The Colonies and the Present Revolution of America.
