Cloth with gilt spine decorations and black decorations on the front; 7.5 inches tall; xii + 355 pages with original illustrations. The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. Moderate shelf handling wear and spotting along the rear edge of the spine.  Ref: BAL 4776. Mary Mapes Dodge is best known as the author of Hans Brinker, The Silver Skates. This tale is the story of a brother and sister, who though unwavering in their mutual affection are nearly separated by the evil plotting of Eben Slade.
