First edition hardcover, published by D. Appleton, 1907. No dust jacket. Part of the 'Four' series of Young Adult novels, in which the gang has a series of adventures involving boating, fishing and other water related activities. 275 pages, four color pates by August Spaenkuch. For this edition, the first printing is indicated by the numeral "1" within parenthesis on the bottom of page 275
Brick red cloth covered boards, with a wonderful vintage cover illustration, and the title and author imprinted on the spine. Shallow chips to the head of the spine, mild wear to the heel of the spine. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. Edges of the text block are relatively clean, with age appropriate tanning. Binding is entirely intact and tight. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Not a library discard. Attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
