About This Item

Description:
A very solid first British edition/first printing (1863). The original cover is in particularly good condition. Some separation beginning between cover and flyleaves. Some chipping at bottom of contents page vii. Otherwise, all pages intact and bright for their age. I have provided many photos. Take a look.

Extended Description and Notes

Lyell's Principles of Geology (1830) was a major influence on the young Charles Darwin. Later Lyell became an active supporter of Darwin's theory of evolution.
