John Murray, 1875. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1875. No Edition Remarks. 473 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations to front and spine. Black and white frontispiece, seven plates and two fold-out maps, all present as expected. Multiple pages detached but all present. 2 pages of publisher's adverts to rear. Severe cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. First few pages partially detached. Errata page, first map, and pp279-282 are detached. Pages have mild tanning and foxing throughout. Pencil prices and bookseller's embossed stamp to front endpaper and half title. Illustrations are bright and clear, with some light tanning and foxing to edges. Previous owner's inscriptions to endpapers and half-title page. Occasional creasing. Boards have moderate shelf-wear. Bumping and mild fraying to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends with mild splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Heavily rubbed joints. Slight liquid stains.
