The book and its contents are in clean, bright condition. There is one small rubbed and bumped spot to the bottom spine end of the book cover. The text pages are clean and bright. There is some toning to the front endpapers and the top edge of the text block has foxing and toning. The dust jacket has some edge wear, nicking and rubbing, especially to the spine joints. There is some light sunning / fading to the spine of the dust jacket. And there is one smallish semi-closed edge tear to the bottom rear edge. The rear cover of the dust jacket has a couple of small spots of foxing as well. The dust jacket features the likeness of William Boyd who portrayed Hopalong Cassidy on both the big and little screens (along with radio). This book, along with three others were written by Louis L'Amour under the pseudonym Tex Burns -- while L'Amour refused to acknowledge authorship of this group of books, he couldn't get away from the fans who saw through the pseudonym to the quality writing that drove the books. These pseudonymous books were the first four hardback novels published by L'Amour. "Louis Dearborn L'Amour (22 March 1908 – 10 June 1988) was an American novelist and short story writer. His books consisted primarily of Western novels (though he called his work 'frontier stories') ; however, he also wrote historical fiction (The Walking Drum) , science fiction (The Haunted Mesa) , non-fiction (Frontier) , as well as poetry and short-story collections. Many of his stories were made into film. John Wayne once said he was the most interesting man in the world. L'Amour's books remain popular and most have gone through multiple printings. At the time of his death almost all of his 105 existing works (89 novels, 14 short-story collections, and two full-length works of nonfiction) were still in print, and he was considered "one of the world's most popular writers."
