Alexander Pope's important translation of Homer's 'Iliad'.'The Iliad' is an Ancient Greek epic poem. The poem is set during the Trojan War, and described the ten-year siege, battles, and significant events.The poem is typically attributed to Homer, and there are many legends surrounding his life. Historians have debated for centuries who Homer was, and whether he really wrote both 'Iliad' and 'Odyssey', two of the most famous epic poems from Ancient Greece.Illustrated with a frontispiece and engraved title. Each book has a divisional half-title.Lacking the marbled paper to the front paste down, and the marbled paper front endpaper. In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn and rubbed. Minor bumping to the extremities, with a small amount of loss. Small chip to the rear joint. Lacking the spine label. A few light marks to the boards and spine.
