In 1859, American missionary William Thomson published a report recounting his experiences in the Middle East – 'The Land and the Book'. It was a book written to give context to Biblical stories as well as illustrate many of the locations and places described in the Bible. This particular volume, entitled "Lebanon, Damascus and Beyond Jordan", includes impressive illustrations including views of the Holy Land.
