London: Edward Moxon, 1855. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. g to vg. 12mo. 154pp. Contemporary brown full leather binding, with blind stamped design, and beveled edges. Spine with gilt lettering, blind stamped designs and raised bands. Gauffered edges of book block, and gilt tooling to edges of interior covers. Brown ribbon marker. Missing the publisher's ads. The publication is a first edition, first printing of this acclaimed collection of poems by Tennyson, including the first appearance of "Charge of the Light Brigade", and was the first collection printed after becoming the poet laureate in 1850. Binding with some rubbing and bumping to hinges of spine, at corners and along edges. Interior with names of some previous owners in ink at interior front cover. Some light smudges and some light water stains to the front free endpapers, title page and initial pages. Starting at the top of gutter of the interior back cover. Binding in good, interior in very good condition overall.
