FORE-EDGE PAINTING

A very early fore-edge painting, unsigned and un-named, probably an English estuary lined with houses and park and a dock leading to small river boats for possible rental and a church clock tower in the back ground. A wonderfully detailed painting. Milton's works became one of the earliest works for fore-edge painting to be executed on with some of the paintings of this period as early as 1779.
