London: Victor Gollancz, 1978. Second Impression . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Stated second impression. Original blue boards, gilt lettering spine. Book is in fine condition but has minor bump lower edge rear cover, clean, tight binding. Original dust jacket is in fine condition with no tears and no chips, flap corner is price-clipped. Book measures 221mm tall x 136mm, and has 224 pages, 23 b/w photos, index. Author's autobiography: Grandes Jorasses, mountain skiing, Eigerwand, Lapland, Hunza, Ruwenzori, Mt Waddington, etc. He was leader of the first ascent of the North Face Eiger climb. Harrer praises Heckmair in his book.
